Hi, I'm Sarah Waddington, a self taught mixed media artist based in the Conwy valley, North Wales.

I will be running a stall at the affordable arts fair from Thursday 17th September to Sunday 20th. This is part of the larger Conwy Arts festival taking place this week. You can find me in Neuadd Ni hall Conwy from 11am to 4.30pm everyday alongside 15 other artists. I will have a range of original paintings and hand made greetings cards available for sale. This is my first ever art fair so please just come and have a look and a chat! I can’t wait to see you there!

Exciting new adventure for me - I will be running a table at the affordable art fair this year in conwy. Possibly baby in tow, definitely lots of art.

The Fox

Mixed media on board, 12’ square (30cmx30cm). Not for sale.

This is from a while ago and I gifted to a friend, but I’m feeling the orange colours this morning. I love the funky perspective on this one. For this style I start off by making random shapes and textures on a board and then the animal sort of emerges in my imagination from those shapes.

Enjoying the colours in this painting, they’re largely from @littlegreenepaintcompany paint samples which I bought for my kitchen and after painting some sample cards to keep for future use I like to use up the paint in my paintings. The two green tones on the background are Invisible Green and Light Bronze Green and the red colour is Tuscan Red. The touch of white-grey-purple on my trees is also a bit of Welcome. I believe their paint is made in Bethesda so a local company and such a lovely quality of paint. Hopefully they’ll eventually look this nice together in my kitchen 😁

Finished these two off with some soft pastel highlights. Loving the colour contrast between the blues and orange and the more subtle layers in the birds’ wings.

Inspired by watching Monty Don’s Japanese Gardens these are Summer and Winter. Collage with hand painted acrylic on paper.

What a lovely lovely exhibition! @pensychnant conservation center open exhibition opened today. Such a lovely morning of looking at all the art, and listening to the awards speech - such a well deserved winner and highly commended pieces. Eating cake and drinking coffee on the lawn and a short walk through the woods. Photos show my piece ‘bluebell woods’ and a selection of my personal favourite pieces. I loved the exhibition theme and can honestly say I don’t think there was a single piece I really didn’t like! Wonderful 😀

I sold a painting this weekend!

‘Fish in the Coral’

will be on its way in the post to its new home tomorrow.

A huge thank you to the lovely lady who contacted me through my website to buy it!

Truly mixed media with collage of acrylic painted paper, magazine paper, tissue paper, water colours, inktense pencils, pastels and left over house paint, and that’s just the stuff I remember! I framed it this morning and did a quick photoshoot in the garden, before packaging it up ready to go.
