Orange juice when the magnolias are flowering

£115.00Price

Acrylic gouache

18 x 24 inches.

This painting is entirely acrylic gouache except for just a few highlights using derwent inktense pencils, such as the bilingual label on the orange juice. I am learning welsh and it's always good practice to ask for things in welsh at the breakfast table. It was painted at my dining room table, by the window, outside of which there is a large plant pot with a lovely magnolia planted in it, flowering at the time. I would never actually cut it to bring inside in a vase, its far too small and precious for the time being. The vase is a translucent glass with hints of botanical shapes and jewel colours glowing through the water, and a glass bottle of milk, or llaeth, sits in the corner.
